CCISD Peggy Whitley Classic Girls Tournament 2016
The CCISD Peggy Whitley 59th Annual Classic was my last stop for early December tournaments in Houston Texas. One thing I do know is that player and team evaluations have more value when you have been able to watch them play on more than one occasion. This is the case for many of the teams in this tournament for me. It was good to see some players perform that I had not watched since the summer or in the past year. It was also refreshing to see new rising young talent like the team fromGalveston Ball with Freshman Post Chanielyn Galloway.
Waco Midway was another team whose roster consisted of players I evaluated during the summer AAU season and I was so excited to see the improvement in senior guard Chelsey Harris , playing with more energy and confidence. Elizabeth Scott soph. small forward has developed more strength, if that’s even possible for her, since the summer. Ridge Point H.S. came out strong with young players like soph. guard Taylor Thomas. Always a pleasure watching strong teams like Hightower, Clear Springs, and North Shore compete and with each viewing I find more role players who display more of their skill sets like freshman guards Taelor Purvis and Keirah Andrus-Clemons.
George Ranch with Freshman guard Jaedyn Dunn was another team that exhibited great energy on the court alongside structure and discipline, good job coach Shalesha Pierce. This list will consist of some of my top performers from the tournament. I believe quite of few if not all of this list deserves some attention from college coaches looking for standout leaders and strong role players who can contribute greatly to their programs.
